Dominguez and Escalante Canyons The 211,199-acre Dominquez-Escalante Management Area, located on the Uncompahgre Plateau, has been proposed for possible National Conservation Area (NCA) designation. Within this area, it is proposed that the 73,056-acre Dominguez Wilderness Study Area be designated as Wilderness. In November 2006, the PLP hosted a public forum in Delta, CO on the potential NCA designation of the Dominguez-Escalante Management Area. In the summer of 2008, the Mesa State College-Natural Resources and Land Policy Institute hosted a series of public meetings to gather comments on the proposal and compiled a report detailing the outcomes of these meetings for the County Commissioners of Delta, Montrose and Mesa Counties.
